Day Two
Alone Time
“After he had dismissed them, he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray.
When evening came, he was there alone,"
Matthew 14:23
If you examine the life of the Savior, you will notice that He often took time out to be alone, to pray and to build up His relationship with His Father. Jesus made it a priority to excuse Himself from the busyness of the day and take time to be alone. He cherished those alone times and we see by his actions following those times, that they gave Him strength. The alone times, those times when he built His relationship with God, recharged Him for the day ahead.
We are just as much in need of those times as Jesus was. We need to recharge and be refreshed in the presence of our Lord. We need those times when we can block out the busyness and the false urgency of the world andseek solace in the arms of our God. We need our alone time because our Savior and role model Jesus showed us that alone time is important.
Noise makes sure that we're never alone. Noise makes sure that there's always something there to keep us company and to fool us into believing that we need not worry because we are never alone. It's not good to be alone most of the time. We need accountability and fellowship. But it is equally foolish to never seek the alone times. We need those alone times if we hope to be of use to God.
* A disciple seeks time alone with God
