Day Four
"Therefore, holy brothers, who share in the heavenly calling,
fix your thoughts on Jesus, the apostle and high priest whom
we confess.”
Hebrews 3:1
We can so easily stray to the right or to the left when we stop listening to Jesus and start letting the noise take over. When we do not listen to the light, we are listening to the darkness and then we are subject to all sorts of calamities. We can fall into a pit, lose our way, or simply walk into a wall. When we take our ears off of Him, we lose the light that brightens our path.
When we take our thoughts off of Jesus and place those thoughts onto something else, we can just as easily lose our way. We can just as easily wander into the darkness of the mind where sin dwells, waiting for an apt time to strike. We can just as easily get lost where the days are not as bright and the nights are that much darker.
We must train our mind to be fixed on Jesus because that is not the normal action for them. We want to think of ourselves and our secret sins. We want to dwell on bitterness and resentment, greed and avarice. But if we train our minds to be fixed upon Him, we will rarely lose our path, we will rarely wander into darkness.
* A disciple keeps his thoughts fixed on Jesus
Application: When you wander in darkness, where do you go? Why is it hard to keep your thoughts fixed on Him?
